1. Invest in our Town Centres
Our town centres have suffered through this pandemic, like many across the country. We will freeze car parking charges and offer more free parking to bring people back into our town centres and support our local businesses.
2. Support our local environment
Labour and the Lib Dems have been unambitious in their plans for North Herts. We will introduce wildflower corridors, protect and enhance our parks, woodlands and green spaces, and pursue providing more electric car charging points.
3. Fix the Council's finances
Labour and the Lib Dems have left the Council in a poor state, with unnecessary extra meetings and expensive bail outs. We left large reserves, but their mismanagement means they chose to hike your taxes by the maximum they are allowed.
4. Push for greater devolved powers
The pandemic has shown that some decisions are better made locally and by people who understand North Herts. That is why we will continue to push for greater devolved powers to Hertfordshire and for the benefits and savings it brings.
5. Review our Local Plan
When the Local Plan is adopted we will review it immediately to ensure that meets the changed needs since it was submitted for examination with particular emphasis on well designed and environmentally friendly homes for all.
6. Clean up our area after two years of Labour and Lib Dem failure to tackle littering and fly-tipping
Fly tipping and littering are a stain on our area and damage our environment. After two years of a Labour-run Council, our bins are regularly overflowing and fly-tipping is all too commonplace. Labour have no plans to tackle this important issue. A Conservative Council would make it one of our top priorities.
