Bim Afolami MP

Member of Parliament for Hitchin and Harpenden

Bim Afolami was elected as MP for Hitchin and Harpenden in the 2017 General Election. Almost 200 local Conservative members met at Rothampstead Conference Centre to select him as their local candidate.

Bim's grandfather was an Anglican vicar who emigrated to Britain from Nigeria. Bim's father is a local NHS doctor, and his mother is a pharmacist. Bim studied Modern History at Oxford, following which he worked for the Conservative Party when it was in opposition.

Bim enters parliament with over 10 years experience in business - he was a lawyer in the City, a senior executive at HSBC, and an adviser to several small businesses.

His wife Hetti is also a former lawyer (both working in the City and for the Government); now she runs a small family business with her father. Together they have two boys - Zachary and Sam. Bim and his family live in Little Wymodley, a village just south of Hitchin.

Bim has his own website which sets out his recent work and details how you can get in touch with him:

Bim Afolami MP Helps to Support Chalk Rivers

Bim greatly enjoyed going to the River Lea in Wheathampstead with the Herts & Middlesex wildlife trust. He has been working with them to help support our chalk rivers - a very rare asset of which the River Lea is a wonderful example.

Hitchin Conservatives Clean Up Hitchin

Our MP Bim Afolami worked closely with local groups, including the Hitchin Forum, CleanUp Hitchin and councillors from all parties on the Big Green Hitchin Litter Pick.

The event, held on the 21st October, was a tremendous success - with over 200 volunteers turning out!

Conservative team talk to residents in Hitchin Walsworth

Your Hitchin Conservative team were joined by our local MP Bim Afolami in Walsworth this morning. We were delivering one of our surveys to residents to get feedback on how we can improve the local area, and it was great to chat to so many people who are passionate about improving Hitchin.
