Cathryn Henry

Biography: Cathryn Henry (40) born in Darwen, Lancashire, is married to James with 2 daughters and 2 step-sons lives in Great Ashby and represents the Chesfield ward (Great Ashby, Graveley, The Wymondleys and Todds Green).

Career: Starting in hospitality, Cathryn then became a Civil Servant and spent 11 years working in Education & Skills policy implementation, and supporting all types of employers in understanding government ambitions for apprenticeships. In 2015 Cathryn founded a Leadership & Management training & consultancy business and works across the UK and Europe supporting individuals and employers.

Political Career: Cathryn won her District Council seat from the Liberal Democrats in 2011 (while 5 months pregnant!) and then held that seat with a strong majority in 2015. Within one year of starting on the Council Cathryn had completed the adoption of all the (long overdue) roads in Great Ashby and went into her second year with a promotion to Vice-Chair of her Area Committee (a post she stills holds today). By year three she was the Vice-Chair of the Council’s Overview & Scrutiny Committee and the Conservative Whip. Since her re-election she has been promoted to the Chair of the Overview & Scrutiny Committee where she encouraged active Member and outside participation. The 2016/17 Civic Year also wielded a Deputy Leader of the NHDC Conservative Group role.

Voluntary Life: Was a School Governor (including Chairship) for 6 years and the Chair of the Board of Directors of a local community cafe are roles that Cathryn holds on a voluntary capacity.
